After graduating from the Children's Assessment Center's program in 2011, I decided I wanted to give back to them since they had given me and my family so much. In July of 2013 I came up with the idea to do a run a month sharing my story with over 100 friends and family, asking them to sponsor me while I ran. I had set a goal to raise $1,000 by my last race in December. After just receiving double that in the first two weeks, I set a new goal of raising $6,000. It's about $1,000 per year for a child to go through the Center's program, although it is free of charge for families to go there. By the end of December my story had raised close to $14,000. On the eve of the 2014 INSPIRE Ball, my story has raised over $50,000. Thank you to everyone who has believed in me, supported me, and shares the same vision of helping child victims become survivors.
I could not have gotten where I am today, if not for the help and support from the staff at the Center, my friends, and my family. But most of all, I wouldn't be a survivor if my story wasn't believed.
